Labradorite Palmstone
Labradorite Palmstone
DESCRIPTION
Labradorite from Newfoundland is a mesmerizing gemstone renowned for its iridescent play of colors, known as labradorescence. Geologically, it formed as a result of the cooling and crystallization of molten rock known as magma. Labradorite is a type of feldspar mineral and is typically found in igneous rocks such as basalt. During the cooling process, the internal structure of Labradorite formed intricate layers that scatter light, giving rise to its unique optical phenomenon.
Historically and culturally, Labradorite has been valued by various civilizations for its mystical and protective properties. In Inuit folklore, it is believed that Labradorite fell from the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis and carried the mystical energies of the Northern Lights. Indigenous cultures in Newfoundland considered Labradorite a sacred stone and used it for spiritual ceremonies and rituals. It was believed to bring forth the hidden knowledge and provide guidance on one's life journey. Labradorite was also used as a talisman to protect against negative energies and promote inner strength and transformation.
